In
this system, steel pallets 48” x 96” are stored in the stacker/dispenser
until called for by an empty position at the load station which is always
holding a empty pallet. When a pallet is loaded the operator activates
a release control and a transfer device raises the pallet and the controls
scan the entire outside perimeter of the pallet to assure no overhang
of product. Passing this test starts the next test, weight check. The
system is designed to handle 8,000# max. If either test failed, the
pallet would be set back down while an alert sounded for removal or
repair by an operator. If the pallet passes the two tests it is transferred
to the infeed conveyor and moved as far forwards as space allows. Once
at the end position the pallet is loaded unto a dual carriage vertical
conveyor with one carriage acting as the counterweight for the other.
The pallet will then be delivered to the second floor system as shown
on the second drawing and transferred to the unload position. The pallet
is always unloaded prior to being loaded on the return carriage to be
delivered to the first floor again. Upon delivery to the first floor
the pallet is accumulated or moved into the stacker and stacked.
